Visit all 1,223 WHC UNESCO sites, can we do it?
Realistically, probably not but we will give it a red-hot go!
Early retirement and a passion for travel, culture, and UNESCO sitesâwhat more reason did we need to take the plunge? So, in 2025, we pack our bags and leave Australia behind, embarking on a 6-year global adventure to visit as many UNESCO treasures as possible.
With years of previous travel under our belts, we thought we had a solid grasp on the doâs and donâts of life on the road and a clear(ish) plan for where weâd go.
Danny started focusing on UNESCO site visits in 2010 which quickly turned into an obsession and a driving need to see them all. Some are beautiful sites of wonder and amazement, some (in my opinion) are just plain boring, but regardless, what else are we going to do with our time? Who needs to sit on palm fringed beach appreciating the sparkling azure waters of some tropical island with a beer? Sigh.
The beauty of visiting UNESCO sites is the endless possibilitiesânew ones are added nearly every year. At this rate, we may never run out of places to explore! And honestly, thatâs just the way we like it.
Current UNESCO count; 200!
