Canadian Christmas, New York New Years
and Route 66.
The natural beauty of Canada is endlessly captivating, and winter takes it to a whole new level. From ice skating in charming Quebec where it was cold enough to freeze your eyelashes at -26°C, the coldest we’ve ever experienced! to witnessing the icy splendor of Niagara Falls and spotting wild moose in the beautiful town of Banff. The boat trip from Vancouver to Victoria Island showcases some of the most breathtaking scenery imaginable followed by huge seals around Victoria Island, Canada is always worth the long journey. An unforgettable highlight was boarding the Canadian Rocky Mountaineer in Jasper for a scenic ride to Vancouver. While winter may not have been the ideal season for the train experience, it was still magical.
For thrill-seekers, Canada doesn’t disappoint. Zip-lining through Whistler’s gorge, moose sighting from a helicopter and dog sledding on thick snow through mountain forests near Banff were adventures that got our adrenaline pumping and our butts frozen. Next on our Canadian bucket list? An RV road trip through Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and across to Vancouver, with a journey up to Alaska—bears welcome, but only from a distance!
New Year’s Eve in New York was a once-in-a-lifetime experience we love to reminisce over. The city’s iconic landmarks feel welcomingly familiar from movies and T.V, creating a surreal sense of déjà vu. We loved exploring Central Park, attending shows on Broadway, strolling Central Park and the Highline, and ticking off the big-name attractions while soaking in the festive holiday energy of the city’s people.
Route 66 offered its own brand of nostalgia, with classic diners, quirky small towns, and plenty of unique stops along the way. The U.S. knows how to do RV travel right, and the food along the route didn’t disappoint. We look forward to spending 12 months traveling this and many other routes in a few years.
